Please fill out our online intake forms found in our Patient Portal. If you do not have an existing account, you will need to create one before completing forms and scheduling an appointment.

Please wear loose clothing that can be pulled up around your knees and elbows. Plan to arrive 10 to 15 minutes before your appointment, in case you need to fill out any additional paperwork. Allow more time for new patient acupuncture appointments (up to an hour and a half is typical). Follow-up appointments will be shorter one hour visits.

In your first appointment we will take time to get to know each other, review your health history and address any concerns you have about the treatment. Chinese pulse and tongue diagnosis will be a part of every treatment but will be especially important during your first treatment. After we have gathered all the necessary information, we will make sure you are comfortable on the massage table and begin your acupuncture treatment. Once all the needles are placed, you will be able to rest for 25 to 30 minutes. During this rest time it is very normal to feel different sensations from the needles, some people report feeling a dull, achy sensation while others report tingling or warm sensations in or around the acupuncture points. The needles should never be painful.

Many people report feeling relaxed and meditative during the treatment and sometimes this feeling can last for hours after the treatment. Sunstone typically suggests patients try and take things easy following acupuncture. Avoid strenuous activities immediately after your treatment, drink plenty of water, and consume nourishing foods so that your body can acclimate better.

We accept most major insurance plans:
Regence, Providence, Pacific Source, United (out of network in 2024), Meritain. Moda (out of network), currently not accepting new new Medicare or OHP patients.

Please note that while most major insurance carriers cover some amount of acupuncture treatment, it varies widely from plan to plan. Before beginning treatment we will need to verify your benefits.
